Day 1: Presbyopia and Keratoconus
As part of achieving its goal of training Ophthalmologists in Contactology, GCOS organized its first scientific event on June 1, 2013 in Casablanca, with the main themes Presbyopia and Keratoconus.
Eminent Contactologists have done us the honor to be present and to hold conferences that have captivated the large audience (more than 150 participants).
Drs. Florence Malet, Marie Malecaze, and Gilles Cyrot thus animated theoretical sessions on the two main subjects (Presbytia and Keratoconus), ranging from the good practice of refraction in these particular cases, to the adaptation to contact lenses. flexible or rigid permeable to oxygen, whether monofocal or multifocal.
Also present was Mr Paul Rose, a renowned New Zealand Optometrist who is none other than the inventor of the Rose K line of lenses that revolutionized the management of irregular corneas, especially keratoconus.
For the first time in Morocco, a live adaptation session was held, led by Paul Rose with the help of Michael Guez (Menicon Laboratory), explaining step by step the methodology of adapting an irregular cornea, and the logical path that leads to the choice of the most appropriate lens.
A big thank you to all the participants of this day which was – in the opinion of all – a great success, and especially to all our sponsors, and in particular Menicon Laboratories, Bausch and Lomb, Ciba vision and Alcon.
